Be inspired by nature at Forty Hall this October. Join local artist Claire Bevacqua for a plaster casting art workshop drawing inspiration from nature. Take time observing the natural world and engage in mindful making.
Collect leaves and plants on a group walk within the Forty Hall Estate to incorporate into your plaster cast. Capture the changing season by making impressions in clay and creating a plaster relief tile. Explore mark making and texture while you learn how to mix and cast plaster.
During this workshop you will:
- Walk in the grounds. Spend mindful time in nature with a small group.
- Press flowers, leaves, bark into clay to create varied textures and impressions.
- Make a mould, mix and cast plaster.
- Create a plaster tile or wall hanging.
- Colour with stain or leave natural.
You will be able to take your work home with you on the day. This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. (Ages 15+)
There will be a break midway to get coffee and snacks from the Cedar Tree café or bring your own.
Please wear suitable footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing. Bring an apron or clothes that you do not mind getting dirty!
Claire is a local ceramic artist who, after graduating from Camberwell College of Art, set up her own studio and has been teaching in galleries, schools and adult education for over 20 years.
