Beyond The Basics: Building a Photograph Step by Step
3 — 4:30pm - Saturday, 11 July 2026
Venue: Forty Hall
Forty Hill,
London,
EN2 9HA,
England,
This intermediate session is for photographers who are comfortable with their camera and want to create more intentional work.
Instead of walking around collecting random shots, you’ll learn how to “work a scene”: staying in one spot and refining a single photograph through timing, composition and small decisions.
Using the estate grounds as a backdrop, you’ll practise building a stronger final image through repetition and observation, with guidance and feedback throughout.
You’ll leave with a clear method you can use anywhere, and a set of images showing how your photo improved as you refined it.
What to Bring:
• Camera (DSLR or mirrorless with control of manual settings)
• Enthusiasm and a willingness to experiment
Spaces are limited to allow for individual attention! Reserve your spot today and begin your photography journey with David Kearley.
Participants should bring a spare, fully charged battery for their camera and wear comfortable shoes and appropriate outdoor clothing.
Participants should have a working knowledge of basic camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO)
