Driver ordered to pay more than £9,000
A Harrow man has been found in contempt of court after admitting breaching Enfield Council’s car cruising injunction.
Nojus Sartauskas, of Alveston Avenue, Harrow, admitted driving a white BMW on Lockfield Avenue, EN3, on 1 August 2026, where he carried out prohibited vehicle stunts including a wheel spin and doughnuts.
He also admitted removing the vehicle’s registration plates before taking part in the stunts.
Police officers who were monitoring the area witnessed the dangerous manoeuvres before stopping and arresting the driver.
On 25 August, the High Court found Sartauskas in contempt of court. He was fined £750 and ordered to pay £8,484.40 towards Enfield Council’s legal costs, making a total of £9,234.40.
What does the injunction cover?
Enfield Council secured the borough-wide injunction in December 2025 following concerns about dangerous car cruising and vehicle-related antisocial behaviour.
It prohibits activities including racing, dangerous driving, vehicle stunts, excessive revving and behaviour causing nuisance, alarm or distress.
This is important because the problem residents are reporting isn’t limited to organised car meets or racing.
For people living on affected roads, repeated revving and high-speed driving during the early hours can mean disrupted sleep night after night – alongside the obvious concerns about road safety.
Our community has been telling us this is a problem
Earlier this year, a discussion about speeding within our Love Your Doorstep community attracted more than 100 reactions and 80 comments, with residents sharing their own experiences from across Enfield.
Residents spoke about speeding on local roads, near misses at pedestrian crossings and the sound of vehicles late at night. More recent discussions have included reports of excessive exhaust noise and suspected racing activity in EN3.
While individual comments are residents’ own experiences rather than independently verified incidents, the volume of discussion shows how strongly people feel about the issue.
Council says enforcement will continue
Enfield Council Leader Cllr Alessandro Georgiou said car cruising, illegal racing and stunt driving were not “harmless fun”, pointing to the impact on neighbourhoods, residents’ sleep and road safety.
The Council says it will continue working with the Metropolitan Police to enforce the injunction and pursue offenders.
This latest case demonstrates that the injunction can have significant consequences when offenders are identified and sufficient evidence is obtained.
However, judging by what residents continue to tell us, the wider issue has certainly not disappeared.
