Enfield Council is expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and wants residents to suggest where new charging points should be installed.
As more people make the switch to electric vehicles, access to convenient charging is becoming an increasingly important issue for local communities. Enfield Council has announced plans to significantly expand the borough’s electric vehicle charging network, with up to 1,000 new charge points set to be installed across Enfield. The focus will be on improving residential and on-street charging, helping residents access charging facilities closer to home. The council is now asking local people to help identify where new charging points are most needed.
A Major Expansion of EV Charging Across Enfield
The new programme aims to make electric vehicle charging more accessible for residents who do not have off-street parking or home charging facilities.
Many of the proposed charge points will be installed using existing street infrastructure, including lampposts, helping to minimise disruption while increasing availability across residential areas.
According to Enfield Council, the ambition is for residents to have access to a charging point within a short walk of their home, making EV ownership more practical and convenient.
Residents Asked for Their Input
As part of the project, local people are being invited to suggest locations where they believe charging facilities would benefit their neighbourhood.
Whether you already own an electric vehicle, are considering purchasing one in the future, or simply want to help shape local infrastructure, the council is encouraging residents to take part in the consultation.
The feedback gathered will help identify areas of demand and influence future installation locations across the borough.
Supporting a Greener Future
The expansion forms part of wider efforts to support cleaner transport and reduce emissions across Enfield.
With electric vehicle ownership continuing to grow, accessible charging infrastructure is increasingly seen as an essential part of future transport planning, particularly in areas where residents rely on on-street parking.
