The Run The River 10k route takes runners alongside the River Lee before finishing on the track at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
The event was supported by the fantastic volunteers from Edmonton Running Club, who helped make the day run smoothly and gave runners the encouragement they needed from start to finish. Community events like this take a huge amount of organisation behind the scenes, and it is always lovely to see local volunteers giving their time and energy to make them happen.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, whether you were running for a personal best, taking on a new challenge, returning to the event, or simply enjoying being part of a brilliant local race.
A special well done to Bob Glasgow of Orion Harriers, who won the men’s race in an impressive time of 36:12, and to Georgina Tanner, who was the first woman across the line, completing the 10k in 43:49.
Events like Run The River are about so much more than the finishing times. They are about community spirit, local pride, teamwork, wellbeing and encouraging people of all abilities to get involved.
It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces, proud runners and volunteers celebrating together at the finish line.
Well done to Edmonton Running Club and everyone who helped make the day such a success. We look forward to seeing Run The River return again next year.
